GFR NEWS | TAKE 29 📵
And another chance to listen to my new BlackMarket Bear project tommorow (Tuesday) night when Guiltfilter Mags plays The Espy regular Tues jam session at The Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda - on around 8pm I imagine, entry is free so come see me loudly put some hard rock in the bottom bar.
Now I am conviced beyond all meaning that I am eventually going to be remembered as Australia's greatest living lyricist so if I end up like E. A. Poe: drunk and broke and alone and dead in a gutter thinking no-one is ever going to appreciate my work (as is looking likely) - then you might appreciate the title this week. When I play live people seem to thrive on the songs and yet everyone is only interested in the fuckin footy and even I get obsessed with gridiron come September. May we all be cursed to live in conservative times when politics and sport reign and we are all really, really bored shitless. Brett Whiteley, Joyce, Fitzgerald, Wilde, Darwin & De Sade - where are you now when we need you?
Here is a pic or two from last Friday nights gig supporting NIHL at the ’bird. NIHL turned out to be really hardcore fucking brilliant and a bunch of truly decent peeps too, so go see em, great band and they rock hard with twin lead guitars that edge around each other and confuse you and leave you wanting another song. There is a rumor they could be the first non Mags band to sign with Guiltfilter Records (100% DIY SINCE 1992 [TM])!
LA CALAVERA (1992 LP) REMASTERED
GUILTFILTER RECORDS have remastered Guiltfilter’s 1994 debut album La Calavera. A heavy three peice band from St Kilda, Guiltfilter originated in 1993 from members of local outfits The Dolls and Hazchem. Enjoy re-visiting this post-apocalyptic time-twisted mutilated occult rock from the early 90's heavy prog-rock fatwa in Melbourne and to quote producer Michael Letho: "Please note that although we tried our darndest, no Fairchild 670's were destroyed during the making of this album..".
Recording notes: Originally released on May 5 in 1994, La Calavera was recorded in Platinum’s Studio 1 in Melbourne and was engineered and produced by Michael Letho. Album cover art by Drew Bassford and photography by Melbourne visual artist Mike Patton. The album was originally distributed by Shock Records in Australia & Europe. All songs Benvenga/Bassford/Morris.
